Abstract:

The primary purpose of this report is to present a generalized method for predicting the blast and thermal environment resulting from explosions of the three most common liquid propellant combinations Liquid oxygenjet fuels, Liquid oxygenliquid hydrogen, and Nitrogen tetroxide50 hydrazine - 50 unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine. The blast prediction method takes into account the fact that the explosive potential of a given liquid propellant combination in accidental failures is not a unique value, but depends on the manner in which the propellants are brought together during the failure process and on the time of ignition.
