Abstract:
Objectives of test program were to determine 1 arresting system performance and whether system could be installed in 100 manhours or less 2 projected service life of systems components when operating at high energy levels and 3 structural integrity and thermal capacity of system components to accommodate repeated high energy arrestments at three-minute intervals for a period of one hour. Successful on-center engagements were made at weights from 25,000 to 90,000 pounds and 80 to 174 knots 57,000 pounds. Aircraft used were F-100, F-101, RF-4C, F-4D, A-3A, and F-111A.
