Part I describes the design and construction of a Brillouin and Raman angular disymmetry light scattering apparatus. Part II reports details on measurements of viscoelastic properties by means of Brillouin scattering. In particular the velocity, at a particular frequency is obtained through various transition temperatures. Part III outlines the theory of optical and acoustical phonon motions in polymers and describes the design and construction of an apparatus for stimulating these motions to such an extent that fracture occurs.
