This study includes A report on the method already used for the investigation and identification of very small quantities of rare earths Its application to seven varities of scheelites, leading to the following conclusions a Traces of rare elements are present in all investigated scheelites b All rare elements which can thus be detected are present in these scheelites, but their relative ratio is very variable c The absence of a distinct phosphorescence line can be attributed to an unknown rare earth The description of the cathodic phosphorescence spectra of rare elements diluted in calcium tungstate The description of their phosphorescence spectra in alumina The description of the phosphorescence of several common elements in alumina.
