Design of the receiver portion of a solid-state, state-of-the-art, single-sideband, 2-17 MHz transceiver is presented. A short comparison of amplitude-modulated and single-sideband systems is offered. The unique requirements of commercial, marine communications are considered and the method of their fulfillment in this transceiver is discussed.
