Description and design of a proposed dual-shock tube facility and a shock-tube facility are given. The results of adiabatic kinetic calculations of the effects of chemical additives on the ignition delay of hydrogen-oxygen-argon gas mixtures are presented. The calculations indicate that total ignition delay consists of two separate induction periods Isothermal Induction followed by Thermal Induction. Calculated results are shown to be consistent with the generally accepted chain branching and recombination reaction mechanism. Author
