Abstract:
The author discusses the introduction of metal inserts into plastic parts, and the possibility of post-cracking caused by the differences in the heat-expansion coefficients of metal and plastics. A number of practical approaches for minimizing or preventing this failure are presented the utilization of metals with a high heat-expansion coefficient is recommended and sharp edges and corners on the metal inserts are to be avoided.
