Abstract:
Several alternative photovoltaic junctions were examined during the quarter. Included were homojunctions formed both by diffusion and by a spraying technique and two kinds of Schottky barriers. Of these, the most successful has been the gold CdTe barriers which have exhibited currents equal to those of our standard Cu2Te CdTe heterojunction and substantial improvements in output voltage. Stability tests to date indicate that there are two types of Cu2Te CdTe junction degradation. One is due to heat and the other type is caused by air or components of air. Several new anti-reflection coatings were examined among the most promising is Parylene-C. Author
