Abstract:
Boriding metals brings with it an improvement in the essential characteristics such as the resistance to wear, heat resistance and corrosion resistance. In addition to these very clear advantages there are also some disadvantages and difficulties to be mentioned. Especially the great brittleness of the layers is a big disadvantage. A negative influence of the mechanical characteristics of the base material must, in addition, be taken into consideration in the heat treatment when boriding. Author
