Pagination or Media Count:
A system has been developed for the location of waveguide discontinuities using nanosecond radio-frequency pulses with time-domain reflectometry techniques. The r-f pulse generation method used is discussed as well as the alternative methods investigated. Measurement-system design and procedures are outlined. Resolution on the order of 4 feet for reflections over 45-db return loss and accuracy of 2 per cent as compared to conventional methods are reported and various measurement examples are presented. Significant advantages of this system appear in locating imperfections in waveguides and other bandpass transmission systems, as compared to conventional c-w-standing-wave or trial-and-error methods.
