A survey was made along the Black and the Huron Rivers in southern Michigan to determine the character and magnitude of the riverine environment. This was a pilot study to assess the feasibility of intensive riverine surveys, significant factors, and methods to collect the data. Eighty-two sites were surveyed. Survey data concerning cross-sections, soil properties and strengths, vegetation characteristics, and conditions along the channel bottom, is included in the report. Methods for gathering the data, types of data gathered, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations for future survey techniques are discussed.
