Abstract:

The SMU-75A, a special weapons simulator for the SUU-20A Bomb Rocket Dispenser, was subjected to shock, vibration, high temperature, low temperature, and humidity environments to evaluate its structural and electrical integrity. There were no visible mechanical failures or detectable electrical degradations during the shock, high temperature, or low temperature tests. A capacitor lead failed during the Z vertical axis vibration test. When the capacitor was replaced, the SMU-75A was subjected to the entire vibration testing sequence without further visible damage. The relay driver circuits failed during the 10-day humidity test because of potting material breakdown. Author
