Abstract:
The results of this study show that the viability of ova obtained from hormone-treated females is equal to that of ova from spontaneous ovulations in the two strains of mice studied Swiss-Webster and C57BAL6Cum. Approximately 90 of all cultured ova developed from the late two-cell or early four-cell stages to blastocysts. The use of exogenous hormones to induce ovulation seems to afford a reliable, efficient, and economic means of obtaining fertilized mammalian ova.
