Abstract:

Heating rates and exhaust impingement pressures were determined for the wave guide kit support and surrounding structure of a 130 scale point Arguello 117L exhaust flame deflector. The tests indicated that the launcher configuration caused gas recirculation which resulted in excessive heating of the missile base. Modification of the deflector inlet area eliminated the base heating. Author
