The Application of the Z-Transformation for Scientific-Technical Calculations in Telecommunication Engineering.

The article describes a program for calculating the time response of electrical networks from the operational transfer function. This program is set up for the ZRA 1 digital computer and makes use of the Z-transform which is, unlike the Laplace transform, a discrete functional transformation and operates not in a function domain but in a sequences domain. Various properties of this transform are stated, namely its linearity, convolution and inversion. The computer program is explained by means of the flow chart, some actual results are shown and discussed. Its usefulness bears out calculating transients and responses to distorted pulses. Author
