The purpose of this work is to elucidate the properties of pyridinyl free radicals. Physical properties Spectroscopic and electron paramagnetic resonance data indicated the formation of diamagnetic dimers from pyridinyl monoradical. Intramolecular association occurred in diradicals. Chemical properties Halogen abstraction and electron-transfer reactions of pyridinyl radicals were distinguished by means of the effect of solvent polarity. Only the electron-transfer reaction showed a significant change in rate with a change in solvent polarity. Author
