Abstract:

The nonlinear SLAM code, described herein, was initially developed to operate on the IBM 7094 computer system. The present detailed discussion applies to the original version running on the IBM 7094 machine, although this is by no means the most efficient i.e., fastest running version of the code. The program is written in FORTRAN IV Version 13 and utilizes extensively the features of the IBSYS operating system, particularly the overlay capability of the IBJOB Loader. The SLAM code described herein can handle up to 1000 node points 2000 degrees of freedom, although this can be rather easily extended if desired. The capability for treating large problems has been achieved by a technique of automatic renumbering of node points or minimizing band widths of tables which enables the sequential processing of element and node point data. This technique, is used to properly partition the system matrices and ensures that the proper data are in machine core at the appropriate times during the time history computation.
