Abstract:

Two variants of the turboprop air transport plane, the AN-24B, are described. The aircraft, intended for short hops and recently added to the Czechoslovak Aeroflot, can carry 44-50 passengers, in one variant, or 32 passengers in the other, in which case there is more disposable space, for example, for the salon accommodating 16-20 passengers. Main attention is given here to the first economy-class variant, as it is most useful to commercial aviation. The aircraft with 50 passengers has a take-off load of 19,500 kg, a take-off run on a concrete runway of 500 m, a landing run of 600 m, and flight range of 600 km with a maneuvering and navigation reserve of 45 minutes, and a range of 800 km when carrying only 44 passengers. The economic design range is 2,000 km, and can be pushed up to 3,000 km, not allowing for the navigation reserve if the pay load is reduced to 3,000 kg. The aircraft is equipped for emergency landing on water. Author
