Abstract:
The report compares self-organizing control techniques with fixed gain techniques as applied to the control of a tactical air-to-ground missile. Detailed simulations of a missile to which both a fixed gain and a self-organizing control system are applied show that self-organizing control techniques offer several advantages over fixed gain techniques. A tactical air-to-ground missile with a self-organizing controller placed in cascade with the servo-actuator has the advantages of tighter control, faster response time, improved short range launch envelope, and a simpler control system. The self-organizing system also performs well in a noise environment. Author
