Abstract:
The rheological behavior of fiberglass-reinforced plastics is examined from the standpoint of the linear theory of viscoelasticity. New formulas for the mathematical investigation of the elastic constants of the composite material are derived, the creep of fiberglass-reinforced plastic plates is discussed, and a new model is proposed for considering the irreversible creep observed in experiments. The article contains a review of the essential concepts of the linear theory of viscoelasticity applied to isotropic materials. Author
