Abstract:
A problem of practical importance is the establishment of the time in which anthrax bacilli can stay alive in the normal and immune animal body and whether the bacilli in contact with the immune substances are weakened or keep their original virulence. Also in relation to vaccination against anthrax, it could be of importance to obtain certainty about the possibility of vaccine bacilli staying alive some time in the animal body, causing the cattle to be carriers of weakened infectious matter for some time. That these animals would excrete bacilli is not acceptable, because, although anthrax bacilli can be excreted with several gland products, this happens only in cases of intensive infection. In some cases, however, it was observed that the infectious matter in the animal body increased so much in virulence that quite some time later the animal still died of anthrax septicemia. Author
