Abstract:
A series of environmental tests was conducted during the development of the Rocket Sled Blast Simulation Technique. This technique used a rocket sled to propel a full-scale reentry vehicle through simulated nuclear environments. Three free-air TNT detonations and six Freon 114-filled, explosively driven plywood shock tube tests were conducted and the results are discussed. The results of conventional shock tube tests that verify how well Freon 114 as a test gas conformed to theory are also presented. Author
