Abstract:

This report documents tests in which a plus or minus 7-bit digital hydraulic servovalve DHSV, and a plus or minus 7-bit linear digital actuator LDA were used with a 7020 hydraulic power drive to study the open-loop response. An analog hydraulic servovalve AHSV was also tested with the hydraulic power drive to provide comparative data on operational characteristics. The 7020 is a typical Fleet-used launcher drive unit. The DHSV is a prototype model, flow-control device developed as an interface between a digital computer and the power drive the LDA, also an interface between a digital computer and power drive, is a special model of a position control device and the AHSV is the valve that is presently being used as the interface between the analog computer and the hydraulic power drive. The DHSV and LDA accept direct digital commands and respond with a proportional flow output and position output, respectively. The analog valve accepts a DC voltage and responds with a proportional flow. These three devices were used to control the output of the variable-displacement pump, fixed-displacement motor of the hydraulic power drive. Author
