HISTOPLASMOSIS WITH FATAL RESULTS AS AN OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE OF A MYCOLOGIST
ARMY BIOLOGICAL LABS FREDERICK MD
Pagination or Media Count:
In spite of all precautionary measures, histoplasma capsulatum infections occur quite frequently in mycological laboratories. Since the disease was mild in most reported cases and fatalities resulting from occupational exposure had not occurred heretofore, infection occurring during research of this fungus had been considered as almost unavoidable. However, experience has shown that, under certain special circumstances, such an infection may be fatal. A case is reported in which anatomical findings are described in connection with fatal histoplasmosis.
