Abstract:
The ir spectra are shown of a large no. of samples of Graham glass, partially crystd. I, cryst. Na3P3O9, and mech. mixts. of I and cryst. Na3P3O9. The intensity of the absorption band at 475cm. decreased and that at 514cm. increased with increasing degree of crystn. of the glass. In the pure I there was an absorption max. at 769cm.. Surface energy of the glass-crystal interface sigma 117 ergsq. cm., and the activation energy of the crystn. was 83 kcal.mole.
