Abstract:
Experimental investigations were performed to determine the temperature cycling characteristics of critical components of avionic equipment in open and closed loop cooling systems. In the open loop cooling systems, the avionic equipment is connected via cooling ducts to the centralized aircraft refrigeration equipment to provide the most severe temperature cycling and thermal stress on electronic equipment component parts. In closed loop cooling systems, the temperature cycling of avionic electronic equipment component parts can be reduced or eliminated. Development of avionic systems with inherent cooling and control design would help the centralized aircraft refrigeration equipment perform its cooling task. Author
