Abstract:
A method of measuring the emf of electrolytes is proposed. The measurements were carried out in the 673 - 920K temperature range the emf values were calculated from the linear dependence of emf on temperature. 1 The liquid alloys Mg-Zn, Mg-Cd, Mg-Ga, Mg-In, Mg-Sb, Mg-Al, although differing in their thermodynamic characteristics are shown to belong to the same group delta Gex O, delta Sex O, delta H O. 2 The liquid alloys Mg-Tl, Mg-Sn, Mg-Pb, Mg-Bi are characterized by negative values for delta Gex and delta H over the entire range of concentration, while the values delta Sex in the system are mostly positive on the side of the eutectic poorest in magnesium which has the lowest melting point. 3 The liquid alloys Mg-Si and Mg-Ni belong to the group delta Gex O, delta Sex O, delta H O. 4 The minimums on curves delta Gex, delta Sex and delta H appear on the side of intermediate phases of variable content or compound showing congruent melting of temperatures higher than the other compounds. 5 Deviations from the behavior of ideal liquid solutions in the following series, Mg-Al and Mg-Si, Mg-Zn and Mg-Ga, Mg-Cd, Mg-In, Mg-Sn and Mg-Sb, Mg-Tl, Mg-Pb and Mg-Bi, increase of the periodical number in the compound closest to the noble metal in the given periodic group.
