Abstract:

The goals of this program were to determine the performance characteristics of the laboratory prototype superconducting generator designed and constructed under AF 33615-2687. To this end, a generator load bank was constructed, and the generator was overhauled for testing. Problems with rotor shaft dynamics and leaks in vacuum insulation spaces required testing under adverse conditions, but a limited test series was run. The results are reported herein. Author
