Abstract:
The report describes the van-installed 2 12-ton-trailer-mounted, radiographic pipe-weld inspection set. With an iridium 192 gamma-ray-source projector, it can produce 70-millimeter-wide radiographs of girth welds on pipe 8 through 24 inches in diameter at an estimated rate of 100 per day. Its components can be inclosed in its compartmented, heated, and air-conditioned van. The set consists principally of a darkroom, an air-conditioner, a refrigeration unit, a heat transfer system, a 70-gallon water storage tank, a water filtration, circulation, and transfer system, a 5-kw generator set, a gamma-ray projector, two gamma-ray survey meters, pipe-mounting brackets, a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher, and various related equipment.
