Abstract:

This report describes the importance and use of sea-surface temperature SST data and the factors affecting and determining its distribution and changes. Subjective analyses and objective synoptic computer analyses of SST are discussed as well as the measurement, interpretation and transmission of SST data. A list of hydrographic and maritime climatological charts and atlases is provided in appendix B.
