The study was undertaken to determine the minimum number of linear accelerometers necessary to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the XSM-65 missiles from flight tests and to obtain the equations for the linear and angular accelerations about the three reference axes in terms of the accelerometer readings. The final results are dependent on the geometric location of the accelerometers so it is recommended that the locations of the instrumentation accelerometers be checked before using the final equations that are set forth here.
