The report covers the implementation of an experimental Remote Query Management Information System MADAPS at Rome Air Development Center by System Development Corporation. The system has the capabilities of querying and maintaining large-scale management-information data files via on-line remote terminals using time-sharing techniques. The system is implemented on a CDC-1604B computer as the central processor with a CDC-8090 computer as an auxiliary processor to interface with the remote terminals. Magnetic disk and drum units are used for random-access storage of contract, financial, and personnel data. Remote terminals used are RCA-6050 displaykeyboard units. Demonstrations have shown that, while the equipment used has serious limitations, such a system is feasible and can be a useful tool to managers. The current system now offers much capability to the remote user but an even more effective system can be implemented with improved input control, added functions and an upgrading of the equipment.
