Transformations of velocity distribution functions to inverse velocity space are shown to provide alternative, and often preferable, statistical descriptions of collections of particles. The salient properties of these Fourier transformed distributions are outlined and their utility and advantages illustrated through applications in plasma theory. The corresponding transformations of the Boltzmann and other kinetic equations are presented, together with those of several collision models. A table of inverse velocity spectra for various velocity distributions is provided for reference. Author
