This report covers the first six months work on infrared modulation techniques, specifically aimed at pulse modulation of the CO2 laser. The performance limits of gallium arsenide electro-optic modulators external to the laser cavity were determined. Evaluation of modulators internal to the laser cavity was begun near the end of the report period.
