Abstract:
The purpose of this program is to produce and study the properties of doped zirconia films which are potential electrolyte materials for high temperature oxide electrolyte fuel cells. In this report we discuss 1 changes in zirconia-yttria films produced by high temperature annealing, including improved conductivity, 2 a comparison of our own bulk conductivity measurements and thin film conductivity measurements over the temperature range of 500 to 1000 C, and 3 the electrical behavior of films sputtered onto sintered alumina substrates.
