Abstract:
New data are presented which yield absolute intensity constants of molecular bands related to the opacity of clear air. The study resulted from a continuation of a previous program. Experimental work covering the 0.2- to 2.5- microns spectral region and employing radiative lifetime measurements yielded new or confirmatory data on some band systems of N2. From the lifetime results, the oscillator strengths f-numbers and electronic transition moments and transition probabilities were deduced. A major portion of the work was directed to a survey and critical review. Calculations based on the known data are presented. In addition to the several N 2 band systems, NO, the NO positive ion, and NO 2 are also discussed. Author
