Creep specimens from a pancake forging of TZM alloy Mo-0.5Ti-0.08Zr were tested in vacuum furnace creep machines at a temperature of 1900 F, and at stresses from 38 ksi to 54 ksi. The forging was found to have variations in structure due to differences in plastic working during forging, with the result that differences in creep properties of specimens from the top and center of the forging were observed. Negative creep was also observed at low stresses. A design curve was prepared for the forging specimens, however considerable data scatter is present due to the inconsistencies noted. Author
