Abstract:
This Technical Documentary Report covers a program, conducted during the period 28 June 1965 to 9 June 1966, to determine the feasibility of microminiaturizing analog filter circuits of typical channel vocoders. Technical areas discussed are the evaluation of prototype circuits designed, including consideration of required resistor capacitor and Q values and substrate area requirements fabrication methods and the reasons for eliminating all but thin film implementation the thin film process itself data generated in implementing two models and conclusions reached on the feasibility of the technique. Two filters were fabricated on a 1 inch by 1 inch substrate, each having a center frequency of 915 hertz and a bandwidth of 130 hertz. The two models differed only in the resistor material used nichrome vs cermet. Specified tolerances were met or exceeded by use of power trimming techniques. Author
