Abstract:
In this paper the solution of M.S. Molodenskiys equation is given by means of the method of successive approximations. In the first approximation the relief of the earth will not be taken into consideration. In the second approximation we take into account the normal elevation of the first order, and in the third the normal elevation of the first and second order and so forth. The derived formulae coincide with M.S. Molodenskiys formulae, which were derived by him by means of an entirely different method. It has been proved that the formulae are reliable only for an angle of inclination of the topographical surface of the earth alpha less than 45 deg.
