Abstract:
The influence of molecular-kinetic processes in the capillary openings of rubbing bodies on nitration, oxidation, decarbonization, and hydrogenation is investigated and the dependence of the coefficient of surface friction on the ratio of the molecular volume of oxide film to the molecular volume of metal is examined. The influence of low temperatures is established through the moisture content of air. The influence of low temperatures on the mechanical properties of metals is investigated. On the basis of theoretical research and published data, the authors demonstrate the possibility of establishing the influence of low temperatures on the process of increasingthe strength and lowering the durability of metal. The origin of the forces between atoms at low temperatures is found. Author
