Strengthening was the prime objective, but retention of useable room temperature ductility and good resistance to atmospheric contamination were important considerations in the formulation of a balanced alloy. In addition to alloying, these techniques for improving the strength of the chromium were employed 1 the use of prealloyed Cr-5 Cb and Cr-10 Ta powders, 2 very fine French chromium, 3 attritor milling to create fine chromium and oxide powders, 4 chemical precipitation of powders containing oxide particles, and 5 electrodeposited powders with entrapped oxide particles.
