This is the Final Report on the development of a high gain, high power crossed-field amplifier of linear format operating at K sub u-band. This report first details the electrical design of the tube. It was derived from a design used in another tube at a lower frequency. A large-signal analysis computer program is used to verify the design. The delay line and the electron gun were also derived from the lower frequency tube. The depressed collector used in the tube was also developed by computer analysis. The mechanical design of the tube, based on prior experience in developing similar devices, is given in detail. Several innovations have been incorporated in this design. A permanent magnet design was developed that has the desirable feature of being completely shielded. The magnet design was developed using the Litton Resistance Network Analogue. The constructional details and hot test results are given for the three operational tubes constructed. Author
