Abstract:
An unsuspected, rapid, cyclorotational adjustment of the eyes to fixational stimulation was identified through the use of two stereoscopic measures of the myologic cyclophoria of a number of observers. The two measuring configurations differed in the presence or absence of a peripheral circle as part of the visual stimulation. The perceptual task with each differed as well, though the assumed mechanism and rationale of measurement was the same. The tasks offer the possibility for experimental study of factors influencing the perceived binocular vertical independent of stereoscopic correspondence. Author
