Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to compare two different gain measures residual gain and common points of mastery. On a learning test administered to 874 Navy enlisted men it was found that there was a low but significant relationship between the two measures. It is possible that the unreliability of the measures used in this study conceals a sizeable relationship. No significant relationship was noted between either of the gain measures and verbal intelligence or numerical aptitude or mechanical aptitude. Author
