Reaction mechanism for sulfur, potassium chlorate and sodium bicarbonate mixtures has been confirmed. The new thermal analytical technique of thermoconductimetric analysis has been modified improved and expanded. It has been determined that mechanical grinding and moisture content have a pronounced effect on the potassium chlorate, sulfur and sodium bicarbonate system. An explanation for premature detonations of colored smoke mix is presented. A new method of plotting time-temperature data of ignition studies has been presented and discussed. The effect of mechanical activation of potassium chlorate in a stoichiometric mixture with powdered sulfur has been investigated. Author
