The work effort described here is concerned with the design and development of broadband, compact, omnidirectional antennas in the H-F communication range 2 to 30 Mc. These antennas are to be used on several U. S. Army aircraft, both fixed and rotary wing. The antenna element configuration reported here is a loop-type structure intended to induce currents on the airframe for a predominantly vertical polarized system. Mechanical design, fabrication and environmental testing of the full- scale model antennas were completed. One full-scale model antenna was built for qualification testing and subjected to various vibration levels as outlined in the MIL-E-5400H specification. Structural modifications were required as a result of these tests to ensure compliance with the various vibration levels encountered. The environmental test results are presented in the appendix.
