Work conducted during the second quarter of a 12-month study of the combustion stability of metallized gelled propellants is reported. The Priem model of combustion stability, modified to include the effect of inert particle drag, was used to determine the effect of particle size and mass concentration on the stability limits over a wide range of particle size and concentration. Results obtained to date from a hot-firing program using a 10,000-pound-thrust, 150-psia chamber pressure rocket combustor and an N2O4gelled N2H4 propellant combination are presented. Author
