The work proposes the nucleus of an engine airframe integration methodology evolved at the Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory, drawing on a considerable number of past integration efforts, both successful and unsuccessful. Only the nucleus is presented so as to encourage each contractor to apply his unique expertise and improve individual segments of the methodology. This common method of approaching the problem of engine-airframe integration should stimulate communication within the field of integration. The methodology also provides the ability to meet reasonable changes in system requirements and the problems encountered in component performance in an orderly fashion rather than in a crisis management atmosphere.
