The research program proposed and carried out was broadly aimed at the practical development and application of superconducting quantum devices. The major result was the successful use of these devices in ultrasensitive voltmeters and magnetometers, and the determination of the theoretical and practical limitations of these instruments in their original and subsequently improved forms. In addition, the electrical behavior of superconducting microbridge weak links was studied to understand aspects of their physical behavior with important device implications. Most of this work has been reported previously in the Technical Reports listed in the report. Finally, the authors explored the possible use of novel instrumentation and of closed-cycle cryogenic refrigerators in connection with superconducting quantum devices and reached negative conclusions as to their usefulness in the program.
