The literature concerning the content of mast cells in mucous membrane of the nose and its accessory sinuses during allergy and in the absence of it are contradictory. The purpose of this work was to study the functional state of these cells, their morphology, amount, and the nature of distribution during the various forms of chronic highmoritis with the aid of the histochemical methods. Differences in the number of mast cells during chronic highmoritis with and without allergy are also explained.
